Dans son projet « labyrinthe », mounir fatmi opère un rapprochement entre l’art et le sacré, en faisant sortir le tapis de prière de sa sacralité religieuse pour le transférer vers la sacralité artistique de l’œuvre d’art. composée de fragments de tapis contribuant à la création d’un labyrinthe visuel, c’est la couleur rose qui l’emporte dans la pièce « labyrinthe n°2 » et qui permet à l’artiste d’accentuer la contradiction entre l’attraction de la couleur et le labyrinthe des formes. poussant le spectateur à se perdre dans l’œuvre, cet artiste engagé et anticonformiste questionne ici le rapport entre l’art et le sacré, la possibilité d’estomper la frontière entre les deux mondes et de privilégier le rapport à l’autre. le travail de mounir fatmi, dont se dégage une forte dimension esthétique et poétique, propose une perception différente du monde, en refusant d’être aveuglé par les conventions.
